Nagpur explosive haul: 58 detonators, 15 gelatin sticks found near RSS headquarters; police probe link to Katol blast

NAGPUR: Panic had gripped the city on Tuesday morning after 15 gelatin sticks and 58 detonators, including eight with connectors, were discovered inside the garden of Dr. Ujjawal Lanjewar’s residence at Dossar Bhavan chowk, barely 5 kilometres from the RSS headquarters in central Nagpur. The shocking find had sent the cops on toes and put the city on high alert mode.Dr. Lanjewar spotted three suspicious bags lying in his small front garden enclosure and immediately alerted the control room. The Ganeshpeth police team rushed to the spot along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and forensic experts. The explosives were safely shifted to a magazine in Kalmeshwar. The material is believed to be linked to the recent deadly blast at an explosives unit in Katol taluka around 25 km away from the city. The Nagpur rural police, who are already investigating that case with 11 officials behind bars, have been alerted. A case has been registered against unkno wn persons at Ganeshpet police station. The mystery of who planted these explosives in a residential area has left the city stunned.
