Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik on Sunday said the Ziro Honour Run symbolised unity, endurance and patriotic spirit.
Speaking at the prize distribution event, Parnaik, who earlier flagged off the run from Central Dree Ground, Ziro, encouraged Arunachal’s youths to dream beyond boundaries, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan said. He said India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and aspire for the 2036 Olympics and urged the young athletes to aim for global excellence and become torchbearers of the Tricolour.
Reminding the people of the essence of ‘Fit India Mission’, he said fitness is a lifelong duty. He called for collective resolve against social evils such as alcoholism and drug abuse.
Paying tribute to the heroes of the 1962 Indo-China War, he recalled the heroics of Rifleman Neelam Tebi, who made the supreme sacrifice during the war. Over 800 runners, including army personnel, IAF, ITBP, NCC cadets, students, and civiliansparticipated in the run across categories.
