Raichur: The district administration has issued a heatwave alert amid forecasts of rising temperatures in the coming days, advising residents to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
In a statement on Friday, deputy commissioner and district disaster management authority chairperson S Poovitha urged people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and wear loose cotton clothing.
The administration advised avoiding strenuous outdoor activity between noon and 3pm, consuming fluids such as buttermilk, lemon juice and tender coconut water, and taking extra care of children, senior citizens, pregnant women and those with existing health conditions.
Residents were also warned against leaving children or pets inside parked vehicles and asked to avoid alcohol, excess tea or coffee, and stale food during the heatwave period.
The district administration said outdoor workers should use caps, umbrellas and wet cloths to protect themselves from heat exposure, and ensure access to drinking water at workplaces.
