Dharwad: Hubballi Rural police have cracked a house burglary reported from Kiresur village under their limits, and a gold shop theft case reported two days ago under Hanagal police station in Haveri district.
SP Gunjan Arya said personnel from Hubballi Rural, Navalgund and Hanagal police stations, in a joint operation, successfully traced the accused and recovered the stolen property.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shivraj Hanamantappa Modakeri from Balehosur in Lakshmeshwar taluk and Ashok alias Ramesh from Ambamath in Sindhanur taluk. Search is on for two more accused, the SP said.
Police recovered 310 grams of gold ornaments and 26 kg of silver articles from the accused. A Bolero vehicle allegedly used in committing thefts in
Telangana state was also seized.
The total value of the recovered property and vehicle is estimated at over Rs 1.1 crore, police said.
