HYDERABAD: Andhra Balananda Sangham will celebrate its 62nd anniversary on Feb. 24 at Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikadpally.
Prizes for various competitions, conducted by the Sangham earlier, will be distributed on the occasion.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Balananda Sangham correspondent N Kameswari said their main aim was to promote Telugu and ensure that the children learn various skills in a stress-free environment.
She said the Sangham conducts a theatre festival every year from November to February. This year, competitions for children had been organised in 18 disciplines including painting, drama, mimicry and dance.
Sangham''s joint secretary Purnachandra Rao said an oil painting of Balananda Sangham''s founder Shri Annayya (N Raghava Rao) will be unveiled on the occasion. Every year, the organisation presents an award to a talented child and this year, a 10-year-old boy, M Vamsi, has been selected for his participation in Telugu conferences.
Film star Akkineni Nageswara Rao will be the chief guest and Dr M K Ramu, poet and founder secretary of Rasamayi, will preside over the function.
