Case against 2 stockbrokers for duping film director’s son of Rs 72 lakh
Hyderabad: Film director Dharma Teja's son, Amitov Teja, approached a local court alleging that two stockbrokers from Moti Nagar cheated him for Rs 72 lakh by fabricating trading profits and then reneging on a compensation deal involving a flat. Based on the court-referred complaint, Jubilee Hills police registered a criminal case against the accused on Monday.

According to the complaint, the stockbrokers, Y Anusha (35) and her husband K Praneeth (34), met Amitov Teja in April 2025, promising guaranteed high returns on stock trading through them. Trusting their claim of risk-free profits, Amitov invested money into stock trading through the duo.According to the complainant, the couple conducted high-risk trades that resulted in a loss of Rs 63.15 lakh. However, the duo sent him forged statements showing gains and also collected Rs 9 lakh as commission.When Amitov Teja confronted them, the accused allegedly offered a flat in Moti Nagar, valued at about Rs 35 lakh, as compensation and executed an agreement of sale on May 26, 2025. However, they allegedly stalled registration and later stopped answering calls.Amitov filed a civil suit in the city civil court, after which the couple allegedly threatened him with suicide and false police cases if he pursued the matter.
"Amitov Teja then approached a local court and the court has referred the complaint to the police for investigation. On the directions of the XVII additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Nampally, we have registered a case against the couple under Sections 316 (criminal breach of trust), 336 (forgery), 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita," Jubilee Hils SI K Somasekhar Goud said.
