A journalist was stabbed by a fertilizer dealer at Karapa village following publication of an article in a vernacular daily four days ago on the aritificial fertiliser shortage in East Godavari district.

KAKINADA: A journalist was stabbed by a fertilizer dealer at Karapa village on Thursday evening following publication of an article in a vernacular daily four days ago on the aritificial fertiliser shortage in East Godavari district.
Satya Traders owner S Srinivas, who runs a fertiliser shop, went to the house of Andhra Prabha reporter D Sambasiva Rao at Karapa, 10 km from here, and attacked him causing bleeding injuries on his chest, wrist and other body parts.

Srinivas's grouse was against an article blaming the fertilizer dealers for the shortage of urea in the district.
Sources said Srinivas belonging to Arakulakatta village attacked Srinivas mercilessly before fleeing from the spot. The scribe with his injuries ran to the police station and filed a complaint against the dealer, who was arrested by the police later.
The scribe was admitted to the Kakinada government general hospital where his condition is said to be serious.
