Gang of vehicle lifters busted; three held, 36 stolen bikes recovered
Indore: A gang of vehicle lifters operating out of Rajgarh and targeting crowded weekly markets in the city was busted by Sanyogitaganj police, leading to the arrest of three persons and recovery of dozens of stolen motorcycles. The three were identified as Anwar alias Annu Shah, and his associates Vishal Khare and Jeevan Verma, all residents of Rajgarh district. Police said that the trio would frequent the bustling haat market in Navlakha area, blend into the crowd, steal parked two-wheelers and escape quickly, leaving little scope for immediate detection. The breakthrough came after police detained one of the suspects from a haat market during a late-night check based on a specific tip-off regarding repeated suspicious movement. During sustained questioning, he disclosed the names and roles of his accomplices, following which two others were arrested from separate locations.Investigators said that the gang would transport stolen vehicles to Rajgarh, where they were concealed in villages and later sold at throwaway prices. Police teams conducted searches in multiple villages and recovered 36 stolen motorcycles collectively valued at around Rs 25 lakh.Police records indicate that Anwar is a habitual offender with 46 criminal cases registered against him across districts, including Indore and Bhopal.
