Police raid house operating illegal mahua liquor unit in Khajrana and arrest woman
Indore: A residential house in Patel Mohalla in Khajrana was found operating as an illegal mahua liquor unit after police sent a decoy customer to verify inputs about illicit sales. The accused woman was arrested at the spot, and more than 60 litres of country-made liquor, along with large quantities of raw material and brewing equipment, were seized.Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Singh Sendhav formed a team and initiated discreet intelligence gathering regarding unlawful brewing and sales in the area.

After receiving specific information, police deployed a decoy to confirm that liquor was being sold from the house. Once the input was verified, a special team conducted a raid at the premises. During the search, officers recovered over 60 litres of illicit liquor stored for sale. They also seized 4 blue drums containing nearly 400 kg of fermented mahua, 2 gas burners, large utensils, pipes, containers, and glasses used in the brewing and distribution process.The accused was identified as Sunita, wife of late Ashok Rathore, 38, a resident of Patel Nagar in front of College Colony, Khajrana.
She studied till Class 6 and was a homemaker. During questioning, she allegedly admitted that she turned her house into a base for manufacturing mahua liquor and sold it to addicts in the locality to earn quick money.Police estimated the total value of the seized liquor and material at around Rs 1.50 lakh. The entire contraband and equipment were formally seized from her possession.A case was registered at Khajrana police station under Section 34(2) of the MP Excise Act. The accused was taken into custody, and further interrogation was underway to ascertain the source of raw mahua and identify others connected to the purchase and sale network.
