Jaipur airport steps up Ebola surveillance after health dept advisory
Jaipur: The Jaipur International Airport has stepped up surveillance following a health department advisory on the risk of Ebola virus outbreak.
Passengers are being screened at Terminal 1 which caters to international flights. Passengers have been urged to voluntarily disclose relevant information after their travel through a self-declaration form.
“The screening process aims to ascertain whether a passenger has travelled to any of the countries where the virus is spreading in the recent past. Thermal screening of passengers is being conducted,” said an official from the airport.
The airport administration has put up the health advisory for passengers on its social media handles, as shared by the Union health ministry.
Passengers who have travelled from countries reporting Ebola disease, like DR Congo, Uganda and South Sudan, which are high-risk countries, and are experiencing symptoms like fever, weakness or fatigue, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, unexplained bleeding, and sore throat, have been asked to report to the airport health officer or the health desk before immigration clearance.
“Any traveller developing these symptoms within 21 days of arrival should immediately seek medical care and inform healthcare authorities about their travel history,” states the advisory.
Meanwhile, amid severe heatwave conditions, the airport administration has set up a shaded walkway for passengers. The walkway canopy has been set up from the car lanes to the entrance of the terminal building.
At both the terminals of the airport, additional drinking water facilities have been installed outside the terminals for passengers, airport staff and app-based taxi drivers.
