ALWAR: The mystery behind the suicide of Tapukara station house officer in Alwar is getting deeper. The local police have neither interrogated the alleged driver of an additional director general of police who was harassing SHO Mannu Singh as per his suicide note, nor have they been able to recover the bullet of the gun which the SHO used to shot himself.
Tapukara SHO Mannu Singh had shot himself allegedly after he apprehended arrest by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) over bribery on Thursday. He succumbed to his injury next day. In the alleged suicide note, he had claimed that he was being framed by one Kamal Singh, driver of an ADG-rank officer in Jaipur.
"The police are yet to identify driver Kamal Singh and interrogate him," a source said.
This has raised a question mark over the seriousness of the local police in probing the case of their own colleague. Various organizations in the district have held press briefings claiming that senior police officers were harassing the SHO to take bribe and give them their share. It was also alleged that he got the posting at Tapukara police station after paying Rs 3 lakh.
Besides, the bullet of the gun used by the SHO in the bribery case is still missing as the police have not been able to recover it from the room where he shot himself.
"The bullet was not recovered from the SHO's body during postmortem. So it has become a mystery where the bullet has disappeared," said the officer.
The local police have now come up with a new theory in the bribery case.
The ACB had earlier claimed that SHO Mannu Singh had threatened one Vishambhar that he would drag him into a serious criminal case and had seized his vehicle some days ago. Later Mannu, through his mediator Ajay Singh, who is a RND degree holder doctor, agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 1, 20,000. It was also verified that he was the mediator for the SHO Mannu Singh.
Now the local police claim that Ajay Singh and Vishambhar are from the same village. "Ajay and Vishambhar had monetary disputes. Ajay was asking Vishambhar to settle the dispute by paying him money. It seems Ajay wanted to frame Vishambhar. It is being investigated how Ajay got the deceased SHO in the picture," said the officer.
