Further, random selection of the arrested will be made on a daily basis. The surveillance team will enquire about the whereabouts of the history sheeters and maintain vigil.
A team of 44 sub-inspector (SI) and assistant sub-inspector (ASI) rank officials, who are deputed in the 17 urban circle police stations, will keep tabs on the criminals ‘identified for the surveillance’ and apprise the monitoring panel.
The team working on the ground to keep tabs on the history sheeters might visit his/her house for verification, if required. The criminals under surveillance shall also be asked to produce himself/ herself at the local police station on any random day for questioning, if required.

“I will regulate the surveillance system and give direction to the panel,” said SP (City) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, who has developed the surveillance model.
Further, updated copy of the list of the criminals would be handed over to the officer on duty at the Composite Crime Control (CCC) room every night. The aim is to keep tabs on the movement and activities of the history sheeters through the CCTV network. The police has prepared a list of 2,739 arrested criminals between January 1, 2021 and September 30, 2023.
Besides, the OC and the beat officer, have to turn up at the incident site within 15 minutes of the occurance of the crime, as per the new model of checking crime. The dereliction would invite disciplinary action. Further, the concerned police station will immediately inform the CCC about any such incident that demands necessary follow-up action of the police without delay.
