Kanpur: A soil testing awareness campaign was conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dilip Nagar, operating under Chandrashekhar Azad Krishi Evam Praudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Kanpur, in Ramgarh village, Vikas Khand Maitha. Under this initiative, farmers were motivated towards scientific farming through on-campus and off-campus training programs. Agricultural scientist Dr. Khalil Khan stated that the imbalanced use of fertilizers affects soil fertility and can reduce production in the long run. Therefore, farmers should use fertilizers only on the basis of soil testing.
During the training, farmers are being informed about the balanced use of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash (NPK), along with the application of cow dung manure, vermi compost, green manure and bio-fertilizers, so that dependence on chemical fertilizers can be reduced and sustainability in agriculture can be achieved. KVK scientists are visiting villages to acquaint farmers with new technologies, enabling them to achieve better production at lower costs.
