Elderly woman dies of H1N1 in Kochi
Kochi: An elderly woman from Palarivattom died of H1N1 on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Lalithambika K, 75, of Pattarumadom House, Edappally. She had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city from Saturday.She developed cough and fever a week ago. Later, she faced respiratory issues and cough worsened. H1N1 was confirmed on Tuesday. She had gone for a movie and a restaurant on May 24. Six other members in her house do not have any symptoms, health department officials said. “Health department has not given details of the case to the corporation. We are clueless regarding where she contracted the disease from,” Kochi corporation health standing committee chairperson Seena Gokulan said.Funeral of Lalithambika was held at public crematorium at Edappally on Wednesday, family members said.
