Kochi: A 43-year-old Ernakulam native, Hassan Umar, was arrested with 33.15g of MDMA near Kangarappadi on Friday. The inspection was held jointly by police, excise department, narcotics control bureau and dog squad against drug trafficking.
Officials said that specific locations where drugs might be stored for distribution were identified, and a raid was held to prevent drug use and sales in the city.
The raid was led by Kochi city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, DCPs Ashwathi Jiji and Shahanshah, narcotics cell ACP T D Sunilkumar, NCB zonal director Venugopal, NCB assistant director Appukuttan, NCB inspectors Maneesh Modi and Shaiju, excise assistant commissioner Joby and other officers.
On Tuesday, Ernakulam rural police seized 609g of heroin in Angamaly. The contraband was worth nearly Rs 1 crore.
