Thrissur: Senior Congress member Ramesh Chennithala said that it is for the chief minister to decide who all should be included in the cabinet. He was responding to questions from media persons after offering prayers at Guruvayur temple on Friday morning.
"I extend all good wishes to V D Satheesan, who has been selected as the chief minister. I welcome the decision of high command. I believe he will have the support of all Congress and UDF workers. This new govt has been assigned the task of liberating Kerala from the evil governance of LDF, and I hope it will discharge this responsibility effectively,'' he said.
Meanwhile, senior party functionary K Muraleedharan said Chennithala must join the cabinet. "A senior member like him must be in the cabinet,'' Muraleedharan said. He however made it clear that this will be decided through discussions between the party high command and Chennithala. Muraleedharan was talking to reporters after offering prayers at Guruvayur temple.
He also offered prayers at the memorial of his parents at Murali Mandiram, in Thrissur.
Muraleedharan said Congress selected Satheesan to head the cabinet, after holding talks with wide sections within the party, UDF and after considering the public opinion. According to him, people had been giving enough indications that they wanted Satheesan as CM, both during the campaign and after the results.
