Six cars damaged in collision in Idukki, traffic along NH disrupted

Idukki: Six cars involved in a chain collision on national highway 183, near Peruvanthanam, were damaged around 11am on Wednesday. Police said no one was injured in the incident.According to preliminary reports, the accident took place when the vehicle in front suddenly applied brakes. The cars that followed it crashed into each other. The front and rear portions of the six cars were damaged, with some vehicles sustaining significant losses. The vehicles were travelling from Kumily towards Kollam direction.Traffic on the national highway was disrupted for a long time following the accident. Peruvanthanam police reached the spot and took necessary action. Locals swung into action to help authorities clear the damaged vehicles traffic from the road and restore traffic flow.Failure to maintain adequate distance between vehicles is a major cause of such accidents, police said.
