Uttar Pradesh native arrested for sexually assaulting minor girl in Angamaly

Kochi: Angamaly police arrested a 45-year-old Uttar Pradesh native for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl on Saturday afternoon.According to police, the accused, Rajesh S, of Chandauli, barged into the house of a 16-year-old girl with learning disability and assaulted her. She was alone at the house at the time of the assault. Residents rushed to the spot on hearing her screams and caught Rajesh from the spot. He was later handed over to Angamaly police. Police said that the area where the house was located was familiar to the accused. The accused was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. He was booked under relevant sections of Pocso Act as well as sections 74, 75(1)(i), 127 and 329(1) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
