Kolkata: Man hit by crane on bridge, dies

KOLKATA: One person died while another received serious injuries in two accidents in the city on Tuesday. A 44-year-old cycle van helper, identified as Dharamraj Jaiswara, was killed after being hit by a hydra crane on top of the Chitpore Lock Gate Bridge.
The incident was reported around 2.25pm on Tuesday after the crane hit the cycle van from behind.Jaiswara is a resident of Lock Gate Road. He was declared brought dead at RG Kar Hospital. The driver of the crane was arrested.
In another accident, 34-year-old Bunty Roy received serious injuries after she was hit by a taxi, which was hit by a S-9 route bus.
The incident took place around 8.15am on Sukanta Setu. Roy has been admitted to KPC Hospital. Her condition is stable now. S-9 is a government bus plying on Jadavpur-Karunamoyee route.
