Kolkata: The Centralised Admission Portal (CAP), which was scheduled to start on Monday evening, has been delayed. Though the official order stated that the portal would start functioning on Monday evening, several students who attempted to apply after the announcement could not access it.
The undergraduate admission portal of Presidency University, which was also scheduled to open on Monday, did not go live due to "technical problemss." Students can submit applications from Tuesday evening onwards until June 1. Chemistry, statistics, life sciences, political science, history and economics will admit students solely on the basis of admission tests which will be conducted between June 12 and 14.
Jadavpur University will open its undergraduate admission portal on Wednesday. Registrar Selim Box Mandal said, "Our admission portal for UG admissions shall go live by Wednesday evening." The entrance tests for science subjects will be held between June 23 and 25, while the admission tests for arts subjects will be conducted between June 25 and July 3.
A higher education dept official said, "The portal was tested many times, and technical errors, if any, were fixed.
We are hopeful that students will not face any trouble while applying."
Rupkatha, who passed HS and wants to study at Lady Brabourne College, checked several times to submit her application but failed. Abhishikta Dan from Burdwan said, "I still do not have access to the portal. It said it would open in the evening, but I couldn't access it even late at night."
