Water from Koshi river in Nepal has reached West Bengal from Bihar: CM Mamata Banerjee
NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, upon her arrival at Kolkata airport, stated that water from the Koshi River in Nepal has reached the state.
"I am going to North Bengal. I've already visited the places in South Bengal where there is flooding. You might be unaware that 5 lakh cusec tonnes of water from Koshi River in Nepal has been released. This water has entered West Bengal from Bihar," said Banerjee.Heavy rains have caused landslides in Darjeeling and Kalimpong since Friday afternoon, disrupting key roads, including alternate routes via Siliguri. On Saturday, the Lava-Gorubathan road remained the only accessible route for residents traveling to Sikkim and Kalimpong.CM Banerjee is expected to visit the flood-affected areas and hold an administrative review meeting at the Uttar Kanya secretariat in North Bengal. The meeting, focused on the flood situation in Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, and Malda, is scheduled for 5 pm.
