West Bengal Election Results 2024: TMC wrests Barrackpur from BJP, retains Barasat, Jangipur
Trinamool Congress (TMC) emerged victorious in five Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal on Tuesday, as per the Election Commission's announcement. In the Barrackpore constituency, Partha Bhowmick, a TMC candidate and state minister, secured 5,20,231 votes, defeating the incumbent BJP MP Arjun Singh, who received 4,55,793 votes, by a margin of 64,438 votes.
Asit Kumar Mal, the sitting TMC MP, successfully defended his Bolpur seat, garnering 8,55,633 votes and defeating BJP's Piya Saha, who obtained 5,28,380 votes, by a substantial margin of 3,27,253 votes.
The Jangipur seat witnessed TMC MP Khalilur Rahaman's victory over Congress candidate Murtoja Hossain Bokul. Rahaman secured 5,44,427 votes, while Bokul received 4,27,790 votes, resulting in a margin of 1,16,637 votes in favor of the TMC.
