Kozhikode: Railways have announced extension of KSR Bengaluru- Kannur Express (train no 16511/12) via Mangaluru to Kozhikode from Sunday.
Although the railways had issued an order in Feb 2024 extending the train to Kozhikode, the move could not be implemented due to technical hurdles.
Under the new schedule, the train that departs from Bengaluru at 9.35pm will reach Kannur at 10.55am, stop at Thalassery (11.20am), Vadakara (11.41am) and Koyilandy (11.58am), before arriving at Kozhikode at 12.40pm.
On the return journey, it will depart Kozhikode at 3.30pm, reach Koyilandy at 3.52pm, Vadakara at 4.12pm, Thalassery at 4.34pm and Kannur at 5.00pm, after which it will continue to Bengaluru as per the existing schedule.
Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan said that the decision would bring some relief to passengers from the Malabar region travelling to Bengaluru.
