BLO dies by suicide in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A schoolteacher who was also working as a booth level officer (BLO) allegedly died by suicide by jumping into a river at Mogral in the district on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Muhammed Savad B, 32, of Bayal House, Puthur. He was a teacher at Govt Higher Secondary School, Cherkala. He was the BLO of booth number 1 at GHSS Mogral Puthur's new building.Following the incident, his relatives and locals protested alleging that work pressure related to BLO was the reason behind his death. District collector Arjun Pandyan said his service as BLO was excellent and his death has no link with the duty. Police have recovered a suicide note citing the reason for taking the extreme step was personal matters. tnn
