Kerala polls: KC Venugopal accuses CPM of unleashing violence
Kozhikode: AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said CPM is continuing politics of hacking 51 times and alleged that the ruling party was trying to turn Vadakara into land of bombs and violence.
Speaking to the media after the Peace Walk organised at Kuttiyadi by UDF against bomb attacks and violence against UDF workers allegedly by CPM workers in the region, Venugopal said CPM was unleashing violence in the region in a concerted manner, just like it wrecked the state of West Bengal through violence. "This is the land where T P Chandrasekharan was murdered by hacking 51 times by people linked to CPM for asking questions within party. The land is witnessing the strange situation of the ruling party itself manufacturing bombs and unleashing violence," he alleged.
Referring to a recent incident, he said house of an UDF worker in Vadakara — who had protested against chief minister at Kannur University — was attacked with bombs. "UDF wants to transform Vadakara into a peaceful region. Throwing bombs or hacking people to death with 51 cuts over differences of opinion or dissent is not a political ideology," he added.
Venugopal further alleged that for BJP Sabarimala and religion are purely instruments to secure votes. "Hindus and Christians are reduced to tools needed only during elections," he said.
He also criticised BJP leaders for what he described as hypocrisy. "The same leaders who visit with cakes during Christmas are now bringing in laws aimed at targeting minority communities at a crucial time," he said.
