Padayappa wrecks rickshaw

Munnar: Wild tusker Padayappa, destroyed an autorickshaw at Kadalaar Estate West Division in Munnar on Sunday night. The autorickshaw was owned by Karuppuswamy, who narrowly escaped the elephant's attack. The incident occurred while he was on his way home. Just a day earlier, near Thalayaar Estate, the same tusker damaged a tourist vehicle. The tourists also narrowly escaped from the attack. The recurring incidents have once again raised concerns among locals and visitors in Munnar over the increasing threat posed by the rogue elephant. Forest officials said they are closely monitoring the movements of the elephant. tnn
