Three killed in car-bus collision near Kondotty

Kozhikode: Three people were killed when their car collided with a private bus at Morayur near Kondotty on Thursday morning. They were part of a family returning after seeing off a relative on his journey to the Gulf from Calicut International Airport.The deceased were identified as Basila (19), daughter of Parakkadan Ibrahim of Pullara, Pookkottur; Sakeena (42), wife of Haiderali of Shankuvarathodu, Kalpathy in Palakkad and Shiyas (23), son of Siddique of Cheeranathadayil, Nambiyanpadi, Pullasseri in Mannarkkad, who was driving the car.Parakkadan Ibrahim (42) and his daughter-in-law Afreena (19), who were also travelling in the car, sustained serious injuries and were admitted at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.The accident happened around 8am on Kozhikode-Palakkad highway, just after the family had seen off Ibrahim's son Basith at the airport. The car carrying Ibrahim, Basila, Afreena, Sakeena and Shiyas reportedly lost control and crashed into an oncoming private bus. Residents rescued the injured by cutting open the mangled car and rushed them to hospital. Basith cancelled his flight and returned from the airport after hearing about the accident.
