BAHRAICH: BSP candidate from Fakharpur constituency KK Ojha was arrested by the police at the time of re-polling on Thursday for violating code of conduct. Later agitated BSP supporters reached the police station and started pelting stone on the police station building. Area superintendent of police (SP) deployed the PAC and extra force following the incident.
Meanwhile, assistant SP reached the spot and released Ojha on the personal bail.
The matter was finally settled. The police have registered case against 12 people, including the BSP candidate in the matter.After the polling at Nausehra polling centre in Fakharpur police station area was cancelled, the re-polling was conducted on Thursday.Ojha complained to the authorities that that some candidates were distributing the money and country-made liquor among the voters in an open violation of model code of conduct. SP Pramod Kumar sent the station officer of Baundi police station at the spot, who asked the crowd and the candidates to leave the village. While all the candidates left the place, Ojha stayed back in the area at the place of his supporter Parshuram Dwedi. Ojha was later arrested by the police. However, news of his arrest made his supporters furious. They reached Baundi and gheraoed the police station. Later they started stone-pelting, ransacked the building and damaged two motorcycles. The police then registered a case against 12 people along with Ojha.
