Lucknow: Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University campus is preparing for a major expansion in the 2026-27 academic session.A new girls hostel, designed to accommodate around 400 students, will soon come up, bringing relief to many girls seeking accommodation within the university premises. At present, the campus has only one girls hostel.University spokesperson Yashwant Virodai said, “Hostel will help more girls access accommodation on campus itself, reducing daily travel difficulties and creating a more supportive academic environment.”The move is expected to especially benefit students with disabilities, for whom accessible residential facilities can make a significant difference in pursuing higher education comfortably and independently, he added.A new academic block with 70 rooms will also be constructed to strengthen the university’s classroom infrastructure and provide more space for teaching, learning, and academic activities.DSMNRU vice-chancellor, Prof Sanjay Singh said, “Our infrastructure development initiative reflects the university’s commitment to improving student facilities and expanding opportunities for quality education.”
