Lucknow: Lucknow University’s LLB Semester-I students protested against the result after several students were shown as failed, with some receiving marks in single digits. Later, University announced adoption of National Education Policy, under which no student will fail in first semester and those who scored in single digits were passed.
Student Ankit Verma said answer sheets were evaluated on old 70-mark format instead of revised 90-mark system, so students who expected first division received much lower scores. Results were first declared, then rolled back and declared again and most students failed.
Priya Singh said many students were given year-backs and forced to pay for recheck and back paper. Avnish Singh said the issue could harm CGPA and academic records. Students demanded inquiry, re-evaluation, assessment by experienced professors, restoration of 70:30 evaluation system, and extension of the Semester-II examination form deadline till corrected results are issued. The university said first-year, second-semester students would be the first batch under the new system. Under the revised framework, all LLB students in both programmes will be promoted from odd to even semester. Vice Chancellor J P Saini said the move would ensure continuity in the academic session and reduce delays in the examination cycle.
