Lucknow: Vice-chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), along with the medical superintendent of Balrampur Hospital, gave up their four-wheelers and switched to bicycles or public transport to commute to their offices following
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve fuel amid global energy tensions.
DSMNRU V-C Prof Sanjay Singh cycled from his residence to the campus, while AKTU V-C Prof JP Pandey walked to his office instead of using his official car. Balrampur Hospital medical superintendent Praveen Srivastava took the
Lucknow Metro to KD Singh Stadium and then used public transport for the rest of his commute.
Meanwhile, AKTU announced that its offices and classes will function five days a week from 9 am to 6 pm.
Friday will also be observed as a no-vehicle day on the campus to save energy.
