UP to felicitate madrassa board toppers; top three students to receive tablets

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh govt will felicitate top-performing students of the Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Board examinations during a special ceremony in Lucknow in the first week of June.As part of the initiative, the top 10 students each from the Munshi/Maulvi (Secondary) and Alim (Senior Secondary) categories will be invited to the state capital, while the top three rank holders in each category will receive tablets to support their higher education.The move is part of the govt’s efforts to modernize madrassa education and ensure that students from minority communities have access to quality education and better opportunities.“The govt aims to make madrasa education more effective and aligned with contemporary educational needs so that students can connect with the mainstream and build brighter futures,” said an official source.According to official data, 80,933 students were registered for the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Board Examination 2026. Of these, 63,211 appeared for the examinations and 55,788 passed.The merit lists for both the Munshi/Maulvi and Alim categories include equal representation of male and female students, with five boys and five girls featuring among the top 10 rank holders in each category. All of them will be honored at the ceremony.In the Munshi/Maulvi (Secondary) examination, Mohammad Wasim from Chandauli secured first position, followed by Mohammad Qasim Ali from Mirzapur in second place and Shaima Parveen from Gorakhpur in third.In the Alim (Senior Secondary) category, girls secured all three top positions. Jumi Fareen and Shaista Parveen from Varanasi, along with Ummul Khair from Amroha, emerged among the top rank holders and will receive tablets during the felicitation ceremony.Minister of State for Minority Welfare, Muslim Waqf and Haj, Danish Azad Ansari said, “The govt is committed to providing quality and modern education to madrasa students, many of whom come from economically weaker Muslim families.” He said students studying in madrasas deserve access to better educational opportunities and resources.Ansari said the top 10 students from both Secondary and Senior Secondary categories would be invited to Lucknow and honored, while the top three students in each category would receive tablets to assist them in pursuing higher education more effectively.The madrassa board examinations were conducted from Feb 9 to Feb 14 at 277 centres across Uttar Pradesh.
