AMRITSAR: The rotting wheat in the open godowns of Kad Gill and Piddi villages in Tarn Taran district has attracted the attention of Congress party that has demanded resignation of food and supplies minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon. While criticizing the SAD-BJP alliance for its alleged double standards on the promotion of ‘Atta-Dal’ scheme Punjab Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta said “The government is letting 25,000 tones of wheat worth Rs 50 crores rotting in the open in the villages of Piddi and Kad Gill” Nimisha on Wednesday took round of the godowns along with Majha zone congress leaders, Bhupinder Singh Bittu, secretary PPCC, Rajinder Singh Tapiala etc.“Kairon is responsible for this damage, the Atta-Dal beneficiaries are not been getting 25 kilograms of wheat meant for a family for the past six months. But, the Badal government is letting the wheat to rot in open” she said.
