Punjabi author brings out collection of ghazals, poems

LUDHIANA: Centre for Immigrant Literature Studies, under the aegis of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Vocational Studies, organized a function in its premises on Monday to release Ujagar Singh Kanwal's latest Punjabi book, 'Rutaan de Parchave'.
The book is the third in a series and is dedicated to Kanwal's wife who has died.

It is a collection of poems, 'ghazals' and lyrics written in simple Punjabi.
Former vice-chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr S P Singh presided over the function that was attended by many other dignitaries like Surjit Pattar, Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Manjit Paul Kaur, Swarnjit Singh, Charanjit Kaur, Tejpratap Singh Sidhu, Hakikat Singh, Suhinder Bir Singh, Amarjit Singh and Deepak Manmohan Singh.
Professor Manjit Singh Chhabra, head of the Punjabi department, welcomed the guests. He applauded the chief guest for creating awareness about Punjabi culture and promoting 'Parvaasi Punjabi' literature.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh said Kanwal's writing has a unique descriptive style and every page reflects the writer's emotions.
