Tuticorin: The Tuticorin district police registered 12 first information reports (FIRs) against supporters of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for a range of violations during the actor-politician Vijay's visit to Tuticorin and Tirunelveli on Wednesday for campaigning.
The legal crackdown primarily targets participants of a massive bike rally that accompanied Vijay's convoy.
According to police sources, the FIRs were filed for various violations under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanjita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, including dangerous driving.
Furthermore, police filed open-place defacement cases concerning the unauthorised installation of party banners and flags throughout the district.
