122 sovereigns of gold stolen from Sattur DMK candidate’s house

Virudhunagar: Unidentified people decamped with 122 sovereigns of gold ornaments from the residence of Sattur DMK candidate Kadarkarairaj at Venkatachalapuram near Sattur in Virudhunagar district.Police said the burglary took place on Monday night when Kadarkarairaj was campaigning in the Chatrapatti area along with CPM state secretary Shanmugam. Taking advantage of the constant influx of party workers and visitors to Kadarkarairaj house, burglars gained entry unnoticed and escaped with gold, police said. The theft came to light on Tuesday morning.Based on a complaint filed by Kadarkarairaj's daughter Vatsala Devi, the Sattur town police registered a case. Fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service to collect evidence from the scene. A special team led by inspector Duraipandi is investigating the case.
