Hoax bomb threat to Madurai collectorate

Madurai: A bomb threat mail to the Madurai collectorate on Thursday turned out to be a hoax.Following the information, a team of the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) attached to the Madurai city police launched a search on the campus on Thursday morning. All the officials and staff were evacuated to safety.Additional police personnel were deployed for the search inside the collectorate premises. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service. The thorough search went on for a few hours. The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax.The cybercrime unit is conducting investigations into the threat email.
