Woman duped of Rs 11.8L in online trading scam
Udupi: A woman was allegedly cheated of Rs 11.8 lakh in an online trading scam after being lured through a YouTube video and a WhatsApp group. The woman stated in a complaint that she came across a trading-related video titled ‘Amar Ujala Bonus' on YouTube and downloaded an app of the same name to learn trading. About 15 days later, she was added by unknown persons to a WhatsApp group, where online trading classes were conducted.The accused later shared a link and asked her to download another app and complete her KYC details. They then introduced her to a trading platform. Acting on their instructions, the complainant allegedly transferred money in phases to various bank accounts provided by the accused between March 6 and March 14, amounting to a total of Rs 11.8 lakh.However, the accused neither returned the invested amount nor provided any profits, thereby cheating her and causing financial loss.In this connection, a case was registered at the CEN Crime police station under provisions of the IT Act and BNS.
