After ED custody, VVMC deputy director Y Shiva Reddy remanded to judicial custody till September 17 in money laundering case
MUMBAI: The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court on Monday remanded Y. Shiva Reddy, deputy director of town planning of the VVMC, in judicial custody until September 17 in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) case. On September 3, the court had sent Reddy to ED custody until September 8 after the ED sought his custody, while the other three accused were sent to judicial custody until September 17. The other three accused are former VVMC commissioner Anilkumar Pawar IAS, and brothers Sitaram Gupta and Arun Gupta. Reddy was produced before the court at 1:50 pm following his medical examination, the report of which was submitted to the court. This money laundering case is linked to the illegal construction of 41 buildings, which were later demolished by court order, leaving hundreds of families homeless overnight. Reddy was arrested along with Anilkumar Pawar and the Gupta brothers in August. After Reddy was raided by the ED in May, during which cash and gold worth around ₹32 crore were seized, it was Anilkumar Pawar who had suspended him.
