Mumbai rains: Air India passengers of Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight stranded for three hours

Mumbai was Tuesday paralysed by the incessant rain, which left several areas of the financial capital waterlogged and claimed many lives in a wall collapse in a northern suburb. Heavy rains lashing the city since Sunday have thrown rail, air and road traffic out of gear, with several trains and flights being cancelled. Stay tuned to TOI for all the latest updates.

Flight operations resume at Mumbai airport. Secondary runway open. The main runway continues to remain shut. Flight operations slow down as secondary runway is shorter and not as efficient as the main runway.

Last year the maximum rainfall at Nallasopara in 72 hours was about 550mm while this year the rainfall has crossed 1,000mm in last 72-75 hours. The water level is above 200mm above rail level. However, in spite of Nature's fury, Western Railway is making all efforts to keep trains running.

Not a single train left Thane station for Mumbai since 4am. Trains coming from Kalyan are being terminated at Thane and operated towards Karjat and Kasara. Trans-harbor locals are running as per schedule
