Kalyan: A little over a month after her death in a road accident, the parents of a Class 10 student of Podar International School from Kalyan were overwhelmed on receiving her ICSE results—she scored an outstanding 94.8%.
Purva Kulkarni, remembered as a bright, sincere and compassionate student, had met with a fatal accident on March 26 while returning home with her mother, Pallavi, after watching a film in a Dombivli mall. Their two-wheeler reportedly slipped on the road, following which a speeding dumper hit Purva.
As the results were announced on Wednesday, what should have been a moment of celebration, turned into one of overwhelming grief and remembrance. Her mother Pallavi told TOI: "Purva had a deep love for literature since childhood. She even wrote fiction books during her school years. She was equally good in sports and never took any tuition classes. She was completely self-driven and dedicated to her studies."
Principal Sanjeevani Bose of Podar International School said, "Purva was always immersed in her studies. Even during short breaks between lectures, she would be seen reading her books. She was expected to score high marks, but today, instead of celebrating her success, we are mourning the loss of a wonderful student." Purva lived in Kalyan with her parents and elder sister. Her family runs a business. On seeing her results, her loved ones said she aspired to be a pilot. — Pradeep Gupta
