Mysuru: Mysuru is all set to host a two-day jackfruit festival on May 16 and 17 at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road. Organised by Sahaja Samrudha in association with Desi Seed Producer Company and the department of horticulture-Kisan Mall, the festival aims to promote jackfruit as a nutritious, climate-resilient and commercially valuable crop.Farmers from across Karnataka will showcase diverse jackfruit and mango varieties, including Thubagere, Lalbagh Madhura, Rudrakshi Bakke, Nagarahole Jenu Halasu and the rare red Chandra Halasu. Organic mangoes such as Badami, Dasheri, Rasapuri, Imam Pasand and Kesar will also be available directly from growers. More than 25 grafted jackfruit saplings, organic products, traditional seeds, handicrafts and value-added items like jackfruit chips, papad, jams and halwa will attract visitors. Fun events, including jackfruit-eating, lifting and drawing competitions also have been arranged.
