Nagpur: A car carrying five students from IIIT-Nagpur overturned on the Nagpur-Chhindwada road while they were returning from a weekend trip from Pachmarhi on Sunday. The accident claimed the life of 22-year-old Nayan Mandal, a final year engineering student.
The other four students sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Pipariya for treatment, where their condition is reported as stable.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the speeding vehicle attempted an overtaking move near a sharp curve. The driver braked abruptly to avoid oncoming traffic, causing the car to skid, flip over, and fall into a roadside ditch.
The group had enjoyed a vacation in Pachmarhi before heading back to campus. Police are probing factors like excessive speed, improper overtaking, and possible driver fatigue. The vehicle was registered in Nagpur.
