Local body tax unwarranted, Nagpur unit of Aam Aadmi Party says
NAGPUR: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has opposed the Local Body Tax (LBT) system being implemented in Nagpur. The city unit's spokesperson Girish Nandgaonkar this step by the authorities "reflects an unilateral decision to toss the common man into clutches of international investors".
In a press release Nandgaonkar said that the state government has "bowed before the conditions set by the world bank, IMF and Foreign Direct Investors (FDI), and the state government is conspiring to hand over our domestic trade to International Investors".

He added that the imposition of LBT from April 1 in Nagpur and Pune is but one part of this conspiracy.
"LBT will not only create difficulties for trade and traders and hence AAP strongly opposes this extremely unjust LBT. We appeal to all small traders as well as common people to stand shoulder to shoulder in vigorously opposing this LBT regime which will otherwise destroy our domestic markets completely. Let us follow the path of peaceful non-cooperation shown by Mahatma Gandhi, and boycott this black law on the lines of his Salt Satyagraha," said Nandgaonkar.
AAP has declared support for the call of halting all trade from April 22 issued by the Federation of Associations of Maharashtra, said Nandgaonkar.
