44-year-old beaten up over signal-jumping altercation
Nashik: A 44-year-old man was beaten up at a traffic signal near City Centre Mall here by a group of three to four people after he confronted them for jumping the signal.The incident took place at around 3.30pm on April 1. The man stated in his police complaint that at the time of the incident, he was driving his car from near CBS to the Trimurti Chowk area in the city.As per the complaint, the man was waiting at the City Centre Mall traffic signal when it turned green. When he started crossing the junction, the suspects, riding two motorcycles, rode from the ABB Circle side and jumped the red signal.The complainant stated that when he voiced an objection to their jumping the signal, the men stopped their motorcycles and started attacking him. One of them whipped out a weapon and hit him on his head and ribs, before all of them fled the spot.The Mumbai Naka police have registered an FIR based on this complaint. They said the identity of the suspects had yet to be ascertained and that they were combing through CCTV footage from the area. They were confident that the suspects will soon be arrested.
