5 arrested for issuing fake birth & death certificates from a cyber café in Nandurbar
Nashik: The Nandurbar police arrested five people for allegedly issuing fake certificates in Nandurbar, after officers found copies of 54 birth and death certificates in the possession of the accused, senior officers said.On the complaint of an officer from the Nandurbar municipal council, the Nandurbar city police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 318(4) (cheating) and 336(2) (forgery), among others.

Inspector Nilesh Desle, of the Nandurbar city police station, got information on Jan 29 that fake birth and death certificates were generated from a cyber café in the city with the help of forged govt stamps. Based on the information, the police raided the cyber café and seized forged govt rubber stamps, fake certificates, a laptop, a printer, etc.The police suspect that a large number of fake birth and death certificates may have been issued from the cyber café, where they were generated with duplicate rubber stamps.Nandurbar additional SP Ashit Kamble said the case is being investigated as per the guidance of SP Shravan Dath S.
"We found records of 54 fake birth certificates from the accused people. Different teams were prepared to trace the people who acquired the fake birth certificates from the accused people. Once these people are located and questioned, their purpose of acquiring the certificates through illegal means will also be clear."On the complaint of an officer of the Nandurbar municipal council, five people, including the owner of the cyber café, a contractual worker and a peon at the Nandurbar municipal council, prepared fake birth and death certificates with the help of fake rubber stamps for their personal financial benefit, thereby cheating the govt and the citizens. The people concerned had been preparing the fake certificates since June 2022.Those arrested have been identified as Anil Koli (34), who is a contractual operator in the municipal council; cyber café owner Rizwan Khan Subhan Khan (32); Lala alias Mohammad Ali Mohammad Yusuf Patel (49), who is a peon in the municipal council; Shaikh Shafik Shaikh Isaac Qureshi (39), who works in a cyber café; and Imran Yakub Pinjari (42), who is a lawyer by profession and worked as an agent to give people fake birth certificates.Additional SP Kamble said that, from the names on the fake certificates, it appears that the certificates were issued to people of mixed communities and not any specific community.Inspector Hemant Patil, sub-inspector Mukesh Pawar, and constable Vikas Gunjal of the Local Crime Branch of the Nandurbar police, inspector Nilesh Desle of the Nandurbar city police station, and Bhunesh Marate of the Detection Branch of the police station were part of the raid and seizure of various documents and articles from the cyber café.
