Man arrested for rape of minor girl in Ahilyanagar

Nashik: A man accused of luring a 17-year-old girl into physical relationship and impregnating her thereafter was arrested by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) personnel of the Ahilyanagar police. After the matter came to the notice of the girl's family, her grandmother lodged a complaint against the man with the Tofkhana police station. An FIR was registered against him for offences punishable under various sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for rape.Apparently, the accused, a worker at a restaurant, resides in the same vicinity as the girl and would call on her from time to time on the pretext of their ‘relationship'. After the complaint filed against him, the accused was found absconding.' PI Kiran Kabadi of the LCB formed a team and tracked him down on Saturday in Ahilyanagar itself..PI Kabadi instructed his team to lay a trap and arrest him. The team followed suit and soon nabbed him from hisi hiding spot, and confirmed his identity.On being questioned, he confessed of committing the crime to the police. He was then handed over to the Tofkhana police station for further investigation.PI Kabadi said the action was taken as per the guidance of SP Somnath Gharge.This is the second case of Pocso registered against the accused person.
