All Saran booths declared sensitive

chapra: saran district administrationhas made all necessary arrangements to ensure fair and peaceful elections forthe chapra municipal corporation and nagar panchayats of rebelganj, marhaurrah,sonepur and dighwara to be held on april 28. all the 197 booths of the districthave been declared sensitive. giving this information to mediapersons onthursday, dm pankaj kumar said that the chapra town has been split into fourzones and sonepur, marhaurrah, dighwara and rebelganj into two zones to ensuresmooth polls. he said that out of 32 wards at chapra, two candidates, from wardno 24 and 26, have been declared elected uncontested. there are a total of 303candidates of whom 95 are female, while the number of voters stands at 1,12,580.thirty-two patrolling parties have been formed to keep a vigil on the pollingday. the dm stated that one candidate from ward no one at rebelganj has beenunanimously elected. there are 16 wards in the nagar panchayat and the number ofvoters stands at 20,480. out of a total 86 candidates, 31 are women. onecandidate has been elected uncontested at marhaurrah too. there are 115candidates in fray there, out of which 36 are women. the total number of votersis 13,788. for 16 wards of the sonepur nagar panchayat, 68 women and 108 men arecontesting. the number of voters stands at 18,455. for 14 wards at dighwara, 46female and 88 male candidates are in the fray while the voters'' number is14,196. he added that as many as 1,000 personnel, 1,500 armed police force menand 65 patrolling parties, along with eight motorcycle parties, have beendeputed to guard the diara area. the borders of the district will be sealed fromapril 27, and liquor shops have been ordered to be closed from april 26 to29.meanwhile, plying of two-wheelers, use of beacons and carrying arms have beenprohibited. sp kundan krishnan said that all the 197 booths in the district havebeen declared sensitive, and armed forces will be deputed at all the booths. hehas urged the people to exercise their franchise without any fear.
