Body of newborn girl found abandoned in Kishanganj

Patna: Body of a newborn baby girl was found abandoned inside a carton near a garbage dump in Rambabu Gali on Sonar Patti Road in Kishanganj district on Tuesday morning. The incident has sent shock waves in the locality.The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when a passer-by noticed a discarded item amid a pile of rubbish. Upon closer inspection, he found the lifeless body of an infant girl, estimated to be around three-day-old.The passer-by promptly alerted the Sadar police station about it. Soon a police team, led by SHO Abhishek Ranjan, rushed to the spot. Authorities recovered the body and sent it to the district hospital for the postmortem to determine the exact cause of death. The SHO said: “We are examining all possible angles.”“The postmortem report, along with evidence gathered from the site and statements from local residents, will help reveal the truth. We are also checking the CCTV footage of the vicinity,” Ranjan told TOI.Investigators are probing whether the death resulted from natural causes or whether the infant was subjected to cruelty or neglect.
