Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Friday honoured cricketer Ishan Kishan with a cheque of Rs 1 crore for his contribution to India’s triumph in the 2026 T20 World Cup.Kishan, who traces his roots to Bihar’s Nawada district and spent his early childhood in Patna, met the CM at his office. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was warmly received by Choudhary, who draped a stole around his neck, presented him with a memento and then handed over the cheque.Congratulating the cricketer, the CM said Bihar’s star player had played a crucial role in India’s victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. “It is my wish that he sets new records for the Indian cricket team in the future and brings glory to the nation,” he said.Choudhary also described Kishan as a source of inspiration for children in Bihar and conveyed his best wishes for the player’s future.In a post on X, the CM wrote, “Member of the Indian cricket team which won the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the brilliant batsman, the son of Bihar, Shri @ishankishan51 Ji, was honoured by the state govt with a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for his crucial contribution in winning the World Cup.”Senior officials along with Kishan’s close relatives, were present on the occasion.
